The goal of the mentor program is to help new members quickly become happy and engaged members. Having a go-to person for questions and assistance in navigating through the many opportunities and resources available through Rotary membership will benefit both the member and, ultimately, the club.

Mentors will be paired with new club members. Mentors will be drawn from the current membership who volunteer for the role. The ideal mentor will be a past president, due to their extensive knowledge and experience with the club and the larger Rotary organization.

The mentor’s main responsibilities are to assist and guide the new member in completing the items listed in the new member checklist. Primarily, the mentor will be available to answer questions and provide assistance with assimilating into the club, including introductions and clarification of expectations for the new member.

The mentor will be asked to have three developmental meetings within the first 15 months of the new member’s tenure with the club. These meetings can be conducted in person, via phone, or via Zoom as is convenient for the participants. Of course, the mentor may arrange as many meetings/discussions as are deemed necessary and practicable.
