SPONSOR A STUDENT

The Wounded Warrior Project is a nonprofit organization that provides essential support and services to veterans and service members who have sacrificed so much for our country. The Carry Forward 5K is an annual event that challenges participants to carry a flag, a weight, or another person for 5 kilometers, symbolizing the burdens that wounded warriors face every day.

Our Rotary Club of Orange Park Sunrise Squad, led by Duane Mallicoat, stands united with other passionate individuals, such as Gordon Reynolds and Brianna Butcher.

Gordon Reynolds, last years squad leader, emphasizes the impact of our collective efforts: “When we rally together for injured veterans, we help ensure warriors with traumatic brain injury, post-traumatic stress disorder, and physical injuries get the specific help they need – free of charge. Every step we take and every dollar we raise contributes to mental health support, career counseling, and long-term rehabilitative care.”

Duane Mallicoat, another dedicated squad member, adds, “We are proud to support the Wounded Warrior Project and honor the sacrifices of our brave men and women in uniform. During the 5K, we experience camaraderie and gratitude, fueled by generous donations from our friends, family, and community.”

Last year’s Carry Forward 5K in Jacksonville, FL saw 1,909 participants, along with corporate sponsorships, raising an impressive $223,313 for the Wounded Warrior Project.
